Myrtle C. Gifford

Myrtle C. Gifford age 95, died Saturday October 17, 2009 at Alden Meadow Park in Clinton under the Care of Beloit Regional Hospice. Myrtle was born September 20, 1914 to the late Chris and Christine (Andersen) Andersen in Allens Grove, WI. She married Raymond Gifford on October 3, 1936 in Clinton, WI. He preceded her in death in October of 1989. Myrtle was a longtime member of Pella Lutheran Church and most recently Jefferson Prairie Lutheran Church. She was an avid gardener and a superb cook. Myrtle was especially skilled at making Aebleskiver, her “Delicious Danish pancakes in the round” and her famous homemade donuts that she shared with many friends. She was also proficient at crotching, sewing and creating beautiful afghans.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Pennewell of Beloit; three grandchildren, Dawn, Pam & Raymond and many great and great great grandchildren. She is further survived by her very special and dear friend, Doris Statton of Clinton and longtime friend and care giver, Jennifer (Kevin) Olson and their two children, Aiden & Ava of Clinton and many Pella Lutheran Church friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Myrtle’s Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at JEFFERSON PRAIRIE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 23184 Bergen Road, Poplar Grove, IL with Pastor Thomas G. Groth officiating. Friends will be received at Church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. The Cortege will process to Clinton Cemetery for committal prays and interment. All are welcome to gather at Church for luncheon and fellowship following the burial. Memorials may be directed to Jefferson Prairie Lutheran Church.
