Leo August Jacobs - Service date: Sep 5, 2009

Leo August Jacobs

Clinton

Leo August Jacobs departed this life on Saturday August 29, 2009 from his home in Clinton, Wisconsin. He was born February 16, 1944 to John and Johanna (Huffman) Jacobs of Ionia, Iowa and shared his childhood with eight brothers and sisters. He is survived by his son, Brian Jacobs, his daughter in law, Sandi, their sons Doug, Kevin, Eric & Brad; and by his daughter, Janette Jacobs, and her children, Jacob & Jenna.

As a young man, Leo loved horses and was skilled at breaking and training them. According to his friends, he kept his best horse-breaking tricks to himself much to the chagrin of their egos and sore bodies when they tried to ride the same horses he could. Leo became a farmer in Durand, Illinois. Later, he worked as a machinist for Chrysler Corporation and Elco-Textron Inc.

Leo liked spending time relaxing, joking, laughing, and telling stories outdoors, whether in the yard at home or at Fort Bergen. He loved being informed and read his newspapers from cover to cover while watching the news on television.

In retirement, he became a close friend and confidant of his children. His grandchildren could always count on him for pocket change to go get ice cream and on his sweet tooth for a snack in his home.

Leo’s Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 5, 2009 in the ST. STEPHEN’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 716 Shu-Lar Lane, Clinton, WI with Father Sanctus Ibe officiating.  Friends may call Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service in the Church.  Following Leo’s service, the cortege will process to Clinton Cemetery for interment. Memorial in his memory may be sent to Beloit Regional Hospice, 655 Third Street, #200, Beloit, WI  53511-6268
