Dorothy Sowl

Dorothy Sowl, age 92, died Saturday June 13, 2009. Dorothy was born on January 20, 1917, in Beloit to Demosthenes and Maria (Gallandis) Stasnopolis. She married Robert Burnell Sowl on April 4, 1940, at the First Methodist Church in Beloit.

Dorothy is survived by her son David (Patricia) Sowl; her daughter Mary (Bevan) Suits; her grandsons Samuel and George Sowl, and Carlo Suits; her sister, Athena Potter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, sisters Angeline Galineas, Lily Radcliffe, Bessie Stasnopolis, and brothers George, Alex and Harry Stasnopolis and Nick Stacy.

A Celebration of Life for Dorothy will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 20th in the SCHOENFELD-MARK FUNERAL HOME, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit, with the Rev. Phil Ramsey officiating. Friends will be received on Saturday at the Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

The family would like to thank the Transitions and Hospice Programs of Beloit Regional Hospice. A special thank you is extended to Dorothy’s friends and neighbors Dennis Murphy and Barb Seguin, Bill and Debbie Dorr, and Jennie Lucas, whose many acts of kindness allowed her to remain in her home until early this year; and to Marcie and Phil Ramsey, under whose loving care she spent her final months.
